Jack Gulielmetti is a composer, producer, and guitar player based in New York City. Born and raised in NYC, Jack was exposed to a large array of music at an early age. Having picked up the guitar at age ten, he starting performing with a variety of groups almost immediately. At 16, he developed an interest in composition. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in music composition from the Juilliard School, studying with Robert Beaser.

Jack’s classical pieces have been performed widely in the US, and he has had the fortune to have his works played by groups such as the New York Philharmonic, JACK Quartet and singer Mikaela Bennett. In addition to his primary teacher at Juilliard, he has studied with composers such as John Corigliano, Steven Stucky, and Christopher Rouse, and has participated in masterclasses with Joan Tower, Nico Muhly, and Samuel Adler. Jack loves collaborating with artists of different disciplines, and has written music for choreographers such as Sophie LaPlane, Taylor Labruzzo, and Simon Ryden. He has also worked with visual artists, filmmakers and poets, including Auguste Joseph Elder, Patrick Donovan, and Srikanth Reddy. He currently serves as substitute composition faculty for the Pre-College of the Juilliard School.

 

As a guitar player, Jack is in demand as a session player. He is a member of critically acclaimed New York jazz group Onyx Collective; he has collaborated with them for ten years. In addition to this, he regularly performs with the group Shouthouse, and with artists such as Caroline Kuhn, Linda Diaz, Daphne Gale and Damon Smith.

 

Recently, Jack has been working as a producer, recording, mixing, and often playing most of the instruments on other people’s projects. He is a co-founder and co-owner of New York based recording studio/community Candid Music Group, where he is a regular collaborator with the other two owners, Gabe Monro and Doc Daniel. On his own, Jack has produced for artists such as Jonah Mutono, Jackson Lundy, Danny Schiller, and Daphne Gale. He is slated to have many releases for other artists in 2022.

 

In addition to this, Jack releases and produces music under the name Jack MG; he has been working on a solo project of songs under this name. He plans to release some of this music in February 2022.
